ACTIVITIES
OF THE FUND
To facilitate higher studies, the ASRP Memorial Fund offers a range of facilities, specifically planned to meet the needs of students in a practical way. The ASRP Memorial Fund renders the following services to students belonging to the GSB Community. Loan
Scholarships
Every year the ASRP Memorial Fund disburses as many as
200 scholarships under the various schemes of the Fund. a) Repayable Loan Scholarships ranging from Rs.2,000/-to Rs.10,000/-per
annum (depending upon the course of study) are awarded to degree level students
undertaking study in Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing,
Veterinary Science, MBA, Hotel Management and other courses in any Indian
University, provided no stipends are received by such students. The loans are interest free for the normal duration of the course.
Loans outstanding from scholars amounts to about Rs.30 lakhs. b) For post graduates studies abroad, a one-time lumpsum payment of Rs.40,000/-is awarded as repayable loan scholarship. To
avail the above loan scholarships, applications in the prescribed form, along
with an introduction from a member of the Fund or from a prominent member of the
GSB Community should reach the office of the fund on or before the 15th of November
of the relevant financial year, for which the assistance is sought. Free
Scholarships
Free scholarships are awarded
ranging from Rs.700 to Rs.2000 per annum at the time of admission to college,
for full time post–SSLC study in courses such as:
Annual disbursement of this scholarship is to the tune of Rs.9 lakhs per annum at present. Book BankProviding further impetus to the pursuit of knowledge is our book bank, which makes available a collection of over 11,000 technical volumes for the benefit of students pursuing full time study in professional courses. Recipients of loan scholarships, free scholarships and other eligible students are entitled to borrow and retain with them during the period of study (year/semester phase) a maximum of four to six books after making an interest free security deposit varying from Rs.1,500/- to Rs.2,000/- for engineering students and Rs.3,000/- to Rs.4,000/- for students pursuing Medical and allied subjects. On a selective basis, an optional facility of borrowing additional books is also available. Books are replenished from time to time by making purchases. Annually books worth Rs.4 to 5 lakhs are being bought. |
